venting…i’d just like to say that our healthcare system is completely unfair, disheartening and ignorant. I could go through lots of examples of friends and family who were denie coverage but I want to respect their privacy. So here’s my experience….
I am 26 and had major medical events happen when I was 16. I needed treatment and surgeries up until my 21st bday. From then on, I’ve been experimenting with psychotropic medication to help with my bipolar 2. (if you aren’t familiar with bipolar 2- a lot of musicians, artists and eccentric minds are known to have this condition. I see it as a total asset to my craft actually. It’s like being on a roller coaster.
So I get it…..I, like millions of Americans have prescriptions, Dr. visits for at least 1 condition and could be a financial liability to an insurance company. but really?
Is anyone aware of how much money insurance companies make? They also profit from your sicknesses, diseases and dependency on them.
We are dependent on our healthcare system to be able to afford healthcare.
The alternative is to have no insurance. Perfectly responsible, upright citizens will be thrown into a lifetime of debt and stripped of all their assets due to one visit to the ER. This is life…we are going to need the er at some point in the next decade if you are human. If you don’t, maybe you are living in a bubble.
So let’s call some figures out shall we?
Anthem Blue Cross: takes a whopping 4 months to be denied or accepted for the unaffordable rate of $490
Called Blue Shield: Their response “yeah um…just telling you now that with your past history you will not get accepted”. well thanks for at least not wasting my time. 1 point for Blue Shield.
Kaiser- coming in second at $480
Called more independent insurance co.
denied. denied. denied.
what was that thing called…um COBRA?!
“Group health plans maintained by employers with 20 or more employees on more than 50% of their typical business days in the previous calendar year are subject to COBRA. Both full- and part-time employees are counted to determine whether a plan is subject to COBRA. Each part-time employee counts as a fraction of an employee, with the fraction equal to the number of hours that the part-time employee worked divided by the hours an employee must work to be considered full-time.”
That’s not even the fine print. F health care, thanks for nothing.
ok done. Let’s go get some fresh air. Take a walk.
Let’s just hope I don’t get hit by a car, moose, or cyclist.
